Kandi America
Interior and Experiential Design
As Kandi Technologies launched its cars in North America, they wanted to create a streamlined version of the traditional dealership model. I worked as a creative director in collaboration with Isaac Murray Studios to design the interior space and graphics for their future dealerships.
The bright and open interior makes the space feel high-tech while inviting, with playful typography and neon signs keeping the space fun and accessible. When a customer enters the showroom, they will be greeted by a large wooden display counter, guiding the eye throughout the room. The layout also reinforces the brand's values with environmentally conscious materials like bamboo and a large living wall. A large vinyl graphic features vehicle photography, with a blue backlit line that guides the visitor through the brand’s story.
From our research, Kandi's Gen Z target audience primarily educates themselves about products online, making a showroom the final touchpoint in their purchase decision. With that in mind, we designed a space where visitors can use digital tablets and screens to learn more about the vehicles and even customize their paint colors. These serve-yourself platforms will make the space interactive on the visitor's terms - eliminating the sense of being hounded by salespeople.
Finally, when a visitor needs to talk about financing, the back office provides a space to chat. The large glass panels make sure prospective buyers don't feel trapped and keeps the conversation feeling completely transparent.
